So like do people fit glasses anymore?

Because I had several people in today that are wearing glasses with the temple bend five feet behind the ears.

I mean when people were bending them properly, but with long ones not shortening them, was annoying. This is even worse.

One fellow I had went into his first pair of bifocals two years ago from somewhere else. He is in his 70s, but always had two pairs. So they put him into a flat top 35. I scratch me head. I mean if the guy was 45 they would have never used a flat top, but because he is old lets use one, and lets make it wider. So he hated them, because of the image jump. Anyways, he wants new lenses and I can tell the frame was never fit (because of cataracts he only wore the frame for like a month).

If he is a plus Rx for distance a flat top would be better.

The problem is too many people are "like" fitting glasses. The real dispensers actually fit them. The people "like" doing things are living a simulated existance.

I wish they were "like" fitting them. In these cases the glasses were never even attempted to be fit.

As for Flat top versus other options, no one talked to him about what he does. He uses the computer a lot, and needs them for that. Even if you argue that a PAL is not right, surely a tri-focal would have been better.

    "And I shouldn't talk..."

Because of my limited years of experience but - welcome to the age of the "Mc-'Tician"

It's a personal pet peeve of mine to see bad or even non-existant adjustment attempts.

So, um, like... how are the legs supposed to stay on if they aren't bent at a 90 degree angle (or less) behind the ear?

And what is this dispensing you speak of? Can't you just mail them?

    :hammer:
Light travels faster than sound, which is why some people appear brighter before you hear them speak.

One optician told me about a debate way back when between a couple of opticians on if glasses are to be mailed out who has to drop them off at the post office. The argument was based on the fact that a licenced Optician should be the last person to handle them before mailing them.

I've seen it way too many times "so how do they feel?" good ok now go away.

being an optician isn't a spectator job, it is hands on. Touch, feel, pull, adjust then ask the patient how they feel. The final decision of how the glasses feels is in the patients hands. weather or not they fit properly is in ours

I'm like, totally sure that nobody's ever like, had some dude go like, "I refuse to like, let you adjust these properly", and then like, leave. Then go to another optician and say, "like, these don't fit, dude".
