    The price reflects the quality.

Fezz, I'm surprised. I've been quite happy with the quality.

    EyeFitWell-
I use to be happy with the quality, but have seen it fall drastically. Maybe I am on a REALLY BAD streak, but I am livid with Safilo! Just within the last week I had an EL#4714 strip out on the eyewire screw upon lens insertation. Ok...it happens. I reorder, go to mount the lenses, yep, oh yes....stripped out again!!!!!!!!!!! The lenses were not too big. I went to show a ladies Liz Claiborne and spread the temples out slightly as I put the frames on her, and the DA*N thing stayed flared out. I take it off and examine it, the spring is shot. It does not work! This is a new frame! It is fresh from mother Safilo! I hope that I am the oddball with these problems. It is truly a sad testimony if this is what Safilo has become. I am positive of one thing....they are OUT of my shop. For the price, I can buy 4 frames from other companies, that have what appears to be the same spring hinges. Sorry for the rant.:shiner:

That seems so strange.. Safilo is my least returned item.

In fact, I just went through my past year's worth of invoices, etc.. and I haven't had a single Safilo warranty issue since I started with this practice in August 05....

    Blasted Safilo

It must be me, but Safilo is killing me with breakage. The last three days have brought me two more broken temples. 1.) Team 4051 -discontinued, great! 2.) Team 4035-have in stock, thank goodness!

    UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Addition..Today I get yet another Team#4021 with broken temples(multiple problems with this frame in particular. And great, frame is on backorder..luckily they have the temples).

Perhaps you should try some of their other products outside of the TEAM line. I carry lots of their products with no problems but oddly I have never carried any TEAM product. From your description I guess I had some good instincts/luck.

Sure they're heavy, clunky and retro-styled, but the Elasta 3000 series mens frames are extremely durable. We had a guy who was a railroad engineer get involved with a derailment and he and his frame were covered in tons of coal. He got out with minor injuries, and his frame was found in a load in the backhoe before being dumped. Lenses scratched pretty badly, but the frame was unhurt.
Once you get away from the original Elasta hinge, you will have more trouble.
As far as trouble goes, I've had the posts break off compression mount frames by Modern Optical (the worst), Silhouette(also several endpiece breakages), and various others. The only ones I have had zero breakage is the Kishimotos from Global. Hooray for one-piece endpiece and bridge construction!

    Gotta love Global Optique!

I'll agree with the Safilo 3000 series. Everything else has been a BIG dissapointment.

I agree with the Global Optique statement! It looks like most of their frames are made verrrrry well. They seemed to pick a well made models.

    New frame - big problems.

Tura 941 drill mount frame. Dispenser's frame has broken three times in different areas. I'm sending the others back.
