Male drivers waste six million hours a year

Now we have scientific findings on a man's lack of asking for directions.

British male drivers waste nearly six million hours a year lost on the road because they are reluctant to ask for directions.

Sorry, fellas, but we have known it all along! :)

About that map thing...how am I supposed to "find where we are" at 70 mph? Where we are is a couple of miles down the road frome where we were when you handed me the folded map of an entire state.

I wouldn't say "reluctant". It's more like "I'm certain of where I'm going" - unfortunatley, my certainty, at times, might be misplaced.

On the other hand, getting lost might be due to poor directions. I love it when a woman says "when you're going down Main Street, you turn left at the bank". Ok.... going which way on main street? Where on Main Street - in Anytown, or Mytown? How about starting directions with "head east on Main Street, in Anytown, and turn left on Maple Ave." Then we men wouldn't get lost so much.:shiner:
    ...Just ask me...

Ok there's one problem, don't give me East or West, give me right or left, who am I, Megellan??? I know the comeback to this (having heard it from my husband and now my boys) "East and West are constant, doesn't matter from which direction you approach." To which I reply, unless I am falling out of the sky, I am approaching from somewhere, so right and left work perfectly fine.:bbg:

    Don't go there.

Cindy: You don't really want to go there. We could get off on how much time/money women spend on the job on the phone arranging thier personal/family lives. How much time they spend discussing reciepts, clothes, resturants, lunch, where to have lunch, etc. How much time is spend farding(French for applying make-up) in the office and while driving. This could go on to the point where no one is speaking to the opposite sex).
And if you had ever been driving the car with my wife or one of thier friends giving directions, you wouldn't pay attention to advise either. God for the times I've been told: "But I ment left."

Many years ago we went to a wedding in a little town in Wales (UK)
After 20 minutes of futile search for the church in this very small place we spotted a kid, maybe 12 yrs old on his bike
"Go on, ask him the way" said my wife.
Reluctantly I shouted "Do you know where the church is?"
He stopped, looked at me for a second and then said "Yes" and carried on cycling. We did laugh!!!!

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree.

sorry to be equaly sexist - but usually it is the bloke that does the driving, and often the woman sat next to him who is reluctant to atempt map reading

I was in New York City the other day and stopped an asked an elderly gentleman “How do I get to Carnegie Hall”

    His reply: “Practice, practice, practice”
