    vee new york

ok, so whos going now for sure, finally found a decent hotel at a good rate, the herald square at 19 31st st, which is right on 5th ave, just one week into the peak season, so the rate is 140 instead of the usual 99.00

We are doing a day trip from mass, 4 hours each way. Closing the office that Sat, driving down for the day with all staff.

After the show, it's off to canal street for bootleg DVDs, counterfeit purses, and peking duck. I'm a little concerned the staff is a little too excited about canal street and not the show, but then I can't wait to get some good cannoli on mulberry.

Preview: ICE-TECH Adv. Polarized & Seiko Rx Freeform

To those Optiboard regulars who would like to meet at VEE. I would like to give all of you who might be interested in offering our newest products the opportunity to see our unique prescription lens designs. ICE-TECH Advanced Lens Technologies has reached an agreement with Seiko Optical to produce the latest design generation from Seiko, the leader in freeform progressive lens designs. I will be available on the floor Saturday afternoon sometime between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM would be good for me.

I would suggest we could meet downstairs at the food court area.

Let me know via e-mail or private message who is interested.

Tell me about it!! Two years ago, I closed all the offices and took all the staff and their spouses to VE West. I didn't expect them to spend 20 hours at the show like I did, but at least 20 minutes would have been nice!

We're doing a day trip from Ohio. I'm bringing 2 opticians and our cabinet maker.
Probably stay in Pa on the way back, unless I check out that hotel that Harry a saake just mentioned...

    Johns,

I've stayed in that hotel that Harry Saake mentioned multiple times. Best value in New York. Very basic, but at least most rooms have private baths and the location is quite central. Reservations essential, they keep the costs down by only using their own website. Herald Square Hotel.

Harry (there seem to be a lot of us with that name on this board)

    Harry,

That looks like an interesting place. Unfortuanately, I was a day late, and a dollar short (I needed 3 rooms).

    Thanks anyway!

    MEETING TIME & PLACE VEE?

I tried to make the meeting in Las Vegas, but I had a conflict with previously scheduled meeting. I will try to meet if a time and place are designated. I suggested a time and place earlier in this thread but there has not been any confirmation from others.

Yes pictures would be nice as I also can't make it. I begged my boss to let me and the optical supervisor go, but he didn't go for it :-(

    So hopefully some other time

What has worked in the past.........

The food court is deserted first thing in the morning. Look for a large table toward the entrance. I seem to remember a starbucks, or something like it within the food court. Grab a cup of coffee, and sit at a table with high visibility. If you plan to get there about 8:30 you'll have time before classes start, and you'll have the place to yourselves. If someone has foresight, make up a sign that says Optiboard on it. You can stop by there both Saturday and Sunday.

For those of you who are not early risers or coming in late, Jim Shaefer has invited you to stop by the Transitions booth to introduce yourself. I understand Pete will be giving some courses, so you could also check by the Essilor booth for him.

I am unhappy to report I had a change of plans and won't be attending this year, but I am sure you will all have fun without me! :D

This is my first visit to VEE, normally I go to Mido and have done Silmo and Optrafair in the past. Any recommendations or features of the show that shouldn't be missed?
