Blue Jumper Delivery Service In Canada...............

As a supplier with often bulky shipments, contrary to frame and lens suppliers which have small and light shipments, charges by ICS the dominating optical delivery service, have gone up dramatically.

How does the retailer deal with this, and how does it affect him.

Well you have to include it into your cost of doing business and, in reality, your price.

I do not get charged shipping from my frame or lens companies (with the exception of really inexpensive frame companies sending one frame out immediately. But even in those cases they will cover it if they ship it through Canada Post).

Of course, your market is different. Heavier, bulkier products and it is difficult to offer free shipping. Truth is if you offered free shipping then you would put that into your price.

Is that what you were looking for?

Actually I was more looking for a general opinion by you guys out in the retail field, how the delivery systems work for you. You are ordering frame from mostly the 2 centers as Toronto or Montreal.

When I was in frames we used to send them by mail and price were included in the selling price. Used to drop 1 or 2 mail bags full at the post office.

When you need lenses fast...and how do the come by............?

These days with more weight and bulky stuff it goes with a delivery service as ICS or UPS and further it goes the more it cost's and you can not add it into selling price and have to charge each shipment extra.

They have increased their prices tremendously. The other week they made a pickup at a supplier for me that they have done for the last three years and charged me $ 50.00. Last week without letting us know the charged $ 300.00

I could rented have a van for $ 50.00 from Budget and will do so again. :hammer:
