These pumps don't last long in our cyl. polishers.
we replace one about every 3 months, anyone else having these problems and switched to a different pump, I believe gerber's is about 2.5 times the price, but may be well worth it.

Little giant designed for aquariums. Go to Lowe's. Lots of choices.
Ive Had The Same Problem Over The Years With Little Giant But The Gerber Pumps $$$ That Cost Much Much More Only Lasted A Little Longer, A Centralized Pump/chiller/filter May Keep You Much Happier. Its Not Too Hard To Design One To Fit Your Criteria

I would suggest that you contact Little Giant @ www.littlegiantpump.com and explain to them that you are using their pumps to circulate POLISH and not water. They manufacture different pumps for different applications. I would also use a local distributor and not "the big box retailers", as I have found that when a problem exists, they are much easier to work with during the warranty period. Plus they know what they are talking about!!
or go to little Giant...........they have them in all sizes:Originally Posted by chip anderson

We use Little Giant without any problems. I have some that I use in glass that have been running for 5 or 6 years now. I will try to post later with the model number of the pumps we use.
We just bought one from Grainger! 1-AA
Lasted 2 days!
Does any one has a model number for those pumps? The one that we originaly had they dont make anymore. It was 1-AAY
Thanks
Have used them for years with great result in plastic polish and glass slurry. How often do you clean out the impeller housing? I think you should clean it out with hot water at least once every 2 weeks. I think you will find great results. My 2 cents worth.
Chlorinated water over a period of time becomes abraisive on the cases which usually ends up corroding and compromising the seal. If you are recirculating water than there is chlorine stabilizer that can be purchased at pet stores (usually in the aquarium area).
Again, if you are using recirculating coolant it is important to change the water frequently. Accumulated platic will cake onto the impeller causing it to stall while the shaft continues to spin which will eventually wear out the bushings holding the impeller to the shaft.
We have two little giant pumps on our edger, change the coolant every 10 days, and stabilize the chlorine. Pumps are over 6 years old and still going.
Lenny: Bet that model was made in China.
I have some of these pumps for 20 years and still going. Dont buy any fishtank pumps................get some of the real heavy duty ones made for all sorts of chemicals and in industrial quality..............cost a bit more but will last forever..........but you have to clean them once in a while.
Example?
You Have to Have Purpose.
Little Giant offers multi purpose pumps to use totally submersed or in-line (fed with pipe or hose). For commercial, industrial, and home use worldwide where liquid must be transferred or recirculated. Applications include aquiariums, swimming pools, water displays, ice makers, air conditioners, boat bailing, fuel oil transfer, circulating water for welding and pipe threading machines, pumping mild chemicals such as soap solutions, acids, plating solutions, and fertilizers where materials are compatible
