    Attention Bible Thumpers!!!

Sorry for the offensive salutation, just wanted to get your attention!;)

There is a marvelous series on PBS called "Walking the Bible"--caught part of it last night. It is I gather based on a book of the same title and the author literally walks thru the places associated with Bible stories and looks at the places where various things presumably took place. Part I saw dealt with Joseph being sold into slavery and his eventual rise to Pharoah's aide. My explanation is not doing it justice, it is very well done.

    Interesting

Someone just sent this to me

    1. The garden of Eden was in Iraq.

    2. Mesopotamia, which is now Iraq , was the
    cradle of civilization!

    3. Noah built the ark in Iraq.

    4. The Tower of Babel was in Iraq.

    5. Abraham was from Ur, which is in Southern Iraq!

    6. Isaac's wife Rebekah is from Nahor, which is in Iraq!

    7. Jacob met Rachel in Iraq.

    8. Jonah preached in Nineveh - which is in Iraq.

    9. Assyria, which is in Iraq, conquered the ten tribes of Israel.

    10. Amos cried out in Iraq!

    11. Babylon, which is in Iraq, destroyed Jerusalem.

    12. Daniel was in the lion's den in Iraq!

    13. The three Hebrew children were in the fire in Iraq (Jesus had been in
Iraq also as the fourth person in the fiery furnace!)

    14. Belshazzar, the King of Babylon saw the "writing on the wall" in Iraq.

    15. Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon, carried the Jews captive into Iraq.

    16. Ezekiel preached in Iraq.

    17. The wise men were from Iraq.

    18. Peter preached in Iraq.

    19. The "Empire of Man" described in Revelation is called Babylon , which was
    a city in Iraq!

And you have probably seen this one. Israel is the nation most often
mentioned in the Bible. But do you know which nation is second? It is Iraq!
However, that is not the name that is used in the Bible. The names used in
the Bible are Babylon, Land of Shinar, and Mesopotamia. The word Mesopotamia
means between the two rivers, more exactly between the Tigris and Euphrates
Rivers. The name Iraq, means country with deep roots.

Indeed Iraq is a country with deep roots and is a very significant country in
    the Bible.

No other nation, except Israel, has more history and prophecy associated it
    than Iraq.

And also... This is something to think about! Since America is typically
represented by an eagle. Saddam should have read up on his Muslim passages...

The following verse is from the Koran, (the Islamic Bible)

Koran (9:11) - For it is written that a son of Arabia would awaken a fearsome
Eagle. The wrath of the Eagle would be felt throughout the lands of Allah and
lo, while some of the people trembled in despair still more rejoiced; for the
wrath of the Eagle cleansed the lands of Allah; and there was peace.

    (Note the verse number!) Hmmmmmmm?!

Many believe the attack took place on 9/11 because of this Koranic verse! Now interpret this last point from a fundimentalist Muslims view that "the eagle" would have to come to your land so a jihad (holy war requiring ALL muslims to fight) can be made against the kafir (non-believers in Islam) ultimately bringing their defeat and peace.
I assume we all know who pictures himself as the "son of Arabia"!
Now this is a whole seperate thread in itself!

Never forget: "Where he bodies are, there also shall the Eagles gather."

That should have given the Islamic nations cause for thought.

Well, maybe the terrorists use the New International Version of the Koran.

Well you ask a lot of Christian leaders and they will tell you that chapters 1-11 in Genesis are meerly stories to explain things and are not really true. You have other religious leaders that dispute that, but the story of Adam and Eve is gravely contested. As for Noah's ark, it falls into that premise too; however, the great flood story is rather popular among different cultures, so there is a belief of truth to it. However, Iraq is potentially considered on place among many. Again, the tower of Babel falls within the same premise. The wise men, if I remember correctly, were potentially from many places.

For the quote it appears to mean more American dominance than Muslim. However, I am sure that after 9/11 some 18 year old nerd on the net just opened up the Koran and said WOW. I doubt there is any connection, and the fact that it was 9/11 was planned for more logical reasons like availability of aircraft and timing.

However, you do have many good points in there. The bible essentially did begin with Iraq, as chapter 12 started with Abraham.

    Is 9/11 9/11?

I don't know how Iraq normally lists its dates, but in Britain we go day/month/year, whereas America goes month/day/year. So we would have called it 11/9 if it had happened here. But we do what we're told, so we call it 9/11 too.
The point being, I wouldn't attach too much significance to what seems to be an Americanism:)

I do think that is the metric way.

However, just wanted to point out something:

IRAQ WAS NOT INVOLVED IN 9/11

I guess it is true that if Bush says it enough people begin to believe it.

    Yeah I know!

But we seemed to be caring about Iraq in relation to 9/11 (11/9!), and I don't know about how they write dates in Iraq, so felt I should clarify that.

Also I don't think it's metric so much as logical :D

I do not know. See as a child I got confused and to me it made sense to go from smallest to largest, which means day, month, year. That worked out since that is how us Canucks do it, but then I found out the Americans do it as month, day, year. I figure they do it as we say it, January 26, 2006.

I am proud that you know of Mrs Slocum! But did you know her assistant is currently the most famous out of all the cast? She has played Pauline in Eastenders for about a million years. I believe Eastenders is on BBC America.

What was that show with Dame Judy Densch as a misfit who dated another misfit who wore a raggedy cardigan, who was set up by her good looking sister and brother-in-law?

It wasn't "As time goes by", but another.

    I can't really enjoy Judy.

I think the old "One Foot in the Grave" was hilarious, however! As well as "Keeping Up Appearances"!

Why the misery and cardigans? We used to watch Are you being served on PBS over here. What happened to the rest of the cast?

Love As Time Goes By, and also Keeping Up Appearances - she reminds me of some people I know back home!;)

John Inman (The Gay One) is now a professional camp person and appearing in a pantomime near you!

Everyone else, I honestly don't know if they're still alive, don't think they've worked since!

But Pauline Fowler is really famous!

Ah, but he did say it:

    By Dana Milbank
    Washington Post Staff Writer
    Thursday, September 18, 2003; Page A18

President Bush said there has been no evidence that Iraq's Saddam Hussein was involved in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, disavowing a link that had been hinted at previously by his administration.

"No, we've had no evidence that Saddam Hussein was involved with September the 11th," the president said yesterday after a meeting at the White House with lawmakers.
