Something happened while I was posting a message to this forum which temporarily made all messages unreadable. Thanks to excellent support from the InfoPop software company, I was able to resotre everything except the one message thread I was trying to post to.

Unfortunately this one message thread was overwritten and is not recoverable. I sincerely apologize for this problem. I know a lot of people put in some thoughtful messages (including me) and I feel really bad that they're now gone. Although I make backups every couple of days, this thread was a relatively new one and had not yet been backed up.

Again I'm very sorry and I hope no one takes this personally. I feel very bad about this.

Well as it turns out, the problem was with my Internet provider and not the bulletin board software. Here's an excerpt from a message from my ISP:

Thu Nov 9 17:51:21 PST 2000 -- A small number of customers who use CGI scripts that write to the web filesystem could have experienced file corruption during the period of time in which Freezer was full.
The good news is that I've found a copy of this missing thread ('Holding Our Breath in the Sunshine State') in my boroswer cache. The bad news is that I can't resore this file without messing up the Board. But what I can do is extract the messages from this file and post them to a new thread. Hopefully that'll somewhat makeup for this glitch.
