    Let's start our own religion...

Ok, we should start an Optiboard religion, here, from scratch. We need to come up with all the deep answers to life.

    I'll start:

The first commandment: No internet contacts. Just kidding. Do not murder anyone. Definition of murder: unwanted killing of an innocent person. Definition of person: Any living human. Definition of living: one who's heart beats and brainwaves are measurable, and can be sustained by artificial or natural means.

No need. It was done for you a lot better than you could possibly do it.

But that was thousands of years ago.
    Things are different now.

    Should religion be progressive?

All other religions are accepted and no one anywhere is wrong or misguided by what they believe. (that should bring us around to Chip's point a little sooner)

Rick: What's wrong today is that people think things have changed, or they want to change them. Right is still right and wrong is still wrong.

God help, me I almost said Right is still right and Wrong is still left.

    This new religion

1)Can there be a Sabbath-type no work, but can it be Saturday AND Sunday?
2)Can there be alcohol? (otherwise I don't really need the first one)
3)Can there be sex before marriage?

I'm not saying I'll join, but if these three things are in, I'll send off for the brochure. Possibly.:D

"I'll go along with any religion as long as it doesn't interfere with my right to be happy, rich and sexually satisfied, or cause me any discomfort whatsoever."

FYI this attitude is why there are so many religions in the world.

    Optiism: Deus Ex Luxottica

1)Can there be a Sabbath-type no work, but can it be Saturday AND Sunday?
Yes, but Optiboard will convert to a sort of metric time which has ten days per week (we're adding Lensday, Prismday and Steveday to the traditional seven), so you're actually gaining a workday per week - although many holidays tend to fall on Steveday.

2)Can there be alcohol? (otherwise I don't really need the first one)
There can indeed be alcohol, except on Prismday. We wouldn't want anyone to get off-axis before the weekend. Unfortunately, near-beer and wine-in-a-box are strictly off limits.

3)Can there be sex before marriage?
The only sex allowed before marriage in Optiism is what is known as being "master of your domain", which due to carpal tunnel issues would not meet Chairtime's requirement of no discomfort (it would attain the other goals I suppose). The good news is that Optiism rejects government subsidization of marriage, so there are no restrictions on who, when, where or what you can marry - or how many times.

    Keep the Commandments?

Any rules/regulations associated with Optiism shall be referred to as "Non-Prentice Rules".

I wonder if Chip and Chairtime are going to try to outlaw BIcentric grinding.:p

I don't think I've ever seen a heterocentric grind, though.

    "getting it in the groove"

Guidlines for Prism sentences for offenders

    The right of free form

and, much more seriously - the 4th commandment - well stocked up beer fridge to be available at all times

Actually drk, I think this was an educational thread. It perfectly illustrates how new "moral" standards are created in society: let's see what people desire and make the rules according to that. Instead of the other way around.

I started this on QDO1's prompting. I like it better the way it has evolved. Evolution in Optiism is not anathema.

B0ll0ck$ to 'we are equal and it's your turn to empty the bin'. I want a hierarchy, and I want to be in the middle, so I don't have to do the menial tasks, but can't be held accountable for anything going wrong.

No objection, but can we spell it and pronounce it paedophile (which we do), cos pedophile sounds like someone who likes bikes.

Difficult, because if I see say, a really thin person, I feel guilty for eating 10 million calories a day. But I don't want the thin people to be fat, cos then it will be known as The Fat Club religion.

Well, if I'm creating a religion...

1.) Everyone will make offerings to Pete Hanlin (hereafter known as "The Pete"). Hard currency, precious metals, or jewels only, I'm not into blood or anything like that. Certain other offerings may also be considered-upon inspection and investigation- acceptable.
2.) The Pete will allow anyone to do anything they want at anytime. Have at life- just try not to be too messy with my world.
3.) Everyone will be required to "deal with" the results of their own actions.
4.) Anyone feeling annoyed by someone's interpretation of #2 will contact Darris Chambless- who will determine what evil actions are dispensed upon the annoying person (or the person being annoyed, if they're just whining).
5.) Robert Shambaum will have to agree with any decision made by Darris (which should ensure nothing is ever actually done to anyone- a little divine form of checks and balances).
6.) Petitions, prayers, etc. are permitted- as long as you submit them in email form in 50 words or less (those wishing success in their petition are encouraged to refer to item #1).
7.) All people over 40 years of age will purchase at least one pair of Varilux lenses per year- violators will be banished to the Antartic (or Utah, your choice).

That's about it- basically a Pete-centered narcissitic anarchy!

Oh, and all Californians will be sent to a "re-education" camp (where smoking is permitted- nay required- in all public spaces).

    The Pete has spoken.
