Need help on Drilling and Groving

    Hello everyone,
I need help on hand drilling and groving. Could some one give me tips or steps for these jobs ? I have a hand held drilling machine I bought from Asia and also a manual groving machine.
    Thanks

What kind of tips are you looking for? If you have never drilled or grooved then I suggest finding someone to show you how. If it is just basic steps you are looking for, then try this method.

    Step 1- turn on drill.
Step 2- push drill bit through lens where you want a hole to be.
Step 3- remove drill bit from hole.
    Step 4- turn off drill.

When groving hi-index lens with c/t 1.1 eg -6.00 and fpd is 48-20 but person has pd 56. The edge will be much thicker. I have a problem making the centre and edge of lens equally centre postion.

Hand groovers have always had a lens guide already 30 years ago and I am sure so does yours. This huide lets you set the placement of the groove..............however on thicker lens edges like you -6.00 you should not have the groove in the middle.

On these minus lenses the groove is always closer to the front surface to get the lens flush with the frame and does not stick out to the front which make for a unsightly job.
