I am interested in hearing from opticians who suffer from Systemic Lupus (SLE). How has it affected your work? What medications are taken? Any vision anomalies?
Lets talk.

Hi Carol;
Are you just interested in Opticians with Lupus, or any one ? My Sister has Lupus and I would be happy to ask her some questions for you. I know she has to stay out of the sun, but what medications she takes and how it has effected her eyes, I don't know. Jim Seebach
Jim,
Thanks. I am always interested in how anyone copes with Lupus. If she has any magic potions for joint pain I really wish she would share. I am particularly interested in others who share my occupation. This is a fairly high stress field. Stress and Lupus are a VERY bad combination.

Hi Carol!
Perhaps someone at http://www.lupus.org/lupus/forum/forum.html can help answer your questions.
Do not have lupus, but:
I have a daughter who used to work for me doing aprentice artificial eye work. She complained that she couldn't see out of her left eye. After about a week I listened, and put her in front of the eye chart. Her 20/15 had dropped to 20/80. Sent her to ophthamologist, who sent her through several sub-specialists. End result, they cleared up that eye only to have problem come in the right eye. End result O.D. developed cataract (whether from steroid treatment or lupus is not clear). Had to have lensectomy and vitrectomy. Results and vision still in flux on this eye.
Sister-in-law lost kidney function from lupus and ill advised pregnacncy.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.
