Folder Access Denied

Recently, in order salvage some files from my hard drive, which is no longer bootable as a master, I swapped said hard drive into another Windows XP PC and accessed it as a slave drive.
However, nearly all of the files I want to save are in one particular folder, and when I try to open the folder, I recieve an error message which reads:
"D:\Documents and Settings\XFolder is not accessible.
Access is denied."

But I don't seem to be able to use the same security options it lists.

If it's relevant, the master drive I'm using is FAT32 and the slave is NTFS.

Do you have a particular reason for keeping the master drive FAT32 ? If not .....then i would convert it to a NTSF volume and then try moving the files.

That's an unusual location for a regular folder - the folders immediately beneath Documents and Settings (which is normally hidden) contain "user" folders - one for each user defined on the system, plus one each for "All Users" and "Default User". Those in turn contain lots of system folders.

I wonder if that has something to do with it.

Are you sure you're trying to open a folder, and not a shortcut to a folder (located elsewhere)?
