    Thanks,
Do your research by going on the listing of 410 optical websites at: http://optochemicals.com/web_ratings.htm

    Thanks,

I did find BK Optical in that list (also google), but they seem to offer only two styles of frames from their catalog (neither exactly modern). I didn't find any other US frame manufacturers in that list.

There might not be any left.......most manufacturers have stopped manufacturing and have their products made in China, Taiwan, Korea and also Thailand.

Oakley, LBI, Art Craft and Titmus are still making Rx frames here, I think. Oakley is the only meaningful one now as Titmus is closing their US factory, perhaps already has. I suspect a majority of LBI and AC's products are now imports. A handful of small companies still make nominal numbers.

The total Rx market share that is still US made is likely under 1%.

The only meaningful US frame production remaining is in injected plano safety eyewear and Oakley's sunglasses. In both units and dollars, these are both still big businesses.

I'm sorry, but you are way off when you say LBI. Most of the crap that we have from LBI (and I do mean crap) is made in China.

I suspect that you are correct that most of LBI's frames are made in China. In fact they own a factory there. It is also true however that they make frames in Nevada, which is all that I stated.

True. You did say that you "suspect a majority of LBI and AC's products are now imports". My bad. I meant no harm or offense.

Thanks everyone. I was afraid that might be the case. It seems even Oakley has gone the overseas route.

Try Eyetailor in CA and LBI in Nevada. They both offer frames "Made in USA".

    Thumbs down

Try Shuron in Florida. They have a website you can find on a search engine.
In another thread today the DOC in CHINA stated the import duty for frames into China is 45%. The import duty for frames into the US from China I believe is still 0% as China has "most favored nation" trading status with us . Go figure.

Take LBI off the list. They stopped US production sometime around August 2004. I went through theirr factory 2 years ago and it was really cool to see them making the frames there. If they would have had a better designer and a little bit of marketing know-how, they should have done great.

Actually we get frames from a small family run company in the Bay Area...Golden Gate Optical. Good quality plastic frames, made right here in the U.S.A. Reasonably priced for the quality style etc. Their own in house line is called Kala, I know that they also will do private labeling if you are interested.:D
