    New to Ebay

I found needed equipments on ebay, but lack experience with them. They are asking for my credit card numbers in advance, is it safe to give them CC details and to deal with them?

Has any one bided on ebay from this forum. Please share your experiences

I get most of my books and other optical stuff there. Have had great experiences with ebay...but not with some of the sellers

Do NOT give your credit card information in advance. It is only required when you are the highest bidder and have won the auction...that is if you are paying that way

No Credit Card info in advance.. EVER!!

Well you need to give either a credit card number or checking account number for pay pal but I think thats it. And believe me its a good idea to use pay pal. They can pay you back if you were ripped off.

    Ebay and CC info

Ebay will ask you for a CC # when you register with them only if you dont use an ISP email. It is only for verification of Ebay and nothing to do with a seller. PayPal will ask you for your CC # when you register with them for the same reason. I have never come accross an Ebay member (buyer or seller) needing this info in advance.
It is safe to give your CC # to Ebay upon registering with them.

    Hi!

I am an ebay powerseller and have been so for several years. Never provide your credit card info in an email (ebay or not). Because emails are not encripted , they can be viewed by the wrong people on their way to the right person. Also, I don't recommend using a credit card to pay for ebay items. Paypal is better because it works like an escrow account so both buyer and seller are protected
