Wave Yellow Polarised Lenses for fishing

Does anyone know of a place in Van Couver that sells yellow polarised lenses? We have a patient travelling there and he seems to think they are available - however we wanted to give him the name of a place to stop in that would know this product.

    I am unfamiliar with this.

    Thanks

Essilor has a wide range of coloured Polarized lenses avilable in RX, should be easy to track down.

    MarySue,

I'm not in the office until noon tomorrow, but I'll get back to you once I've spoken with our optician. You may also want to check with mullo, another Vancouver-based member.

    MarySue,

We can get the lenses for your patient if he wishes. I've been warned though that the satisfaction rate of yellow polarised lenses isn't very high. This is where our lab gets the lenses: www.specialtylens.com (check out the lens recommendations for fishing).

Our clinic is called Vancouver Block Optometrists. Our website www.vanblockeyedoc.com has all the contact information.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

NuPolar has one or two shades of yellow. But unless he is going to be fishing real early or real late yellow is going to be too bright to stand even with polarization.

Sorry, but NuPolar does not have a yellow polarizing lens. The main reason is that to date, no technology exists for achieving a high efficiency polarizer in a yellow color. (By high efficiency, I mean at least greater than 97-98%). Yellows, and in fact nearly all the light color polarizers, such as colors like apple green, or sky blue, etc..are not really polarizers. Put them in front of a glare demonstrator and you will understand what I am talking about.

kbco carries yellow polarized (shooters). personally my patients perfer brown melanin lenses for fishing. I have sold a few yellow lenses and most of them were returned for light amber or melanin polar lenses.

From the context of your orig. post I'm not sure if you are looking for an RX or not. Anyhow, take a look at Costa Del Mar. They have a style called the Tropic Star which comes with an interchangable lens system of 3 pairs of lenses (sunrise yellow is one of them)

This style also works well with CL wearers as you can RX lenses in one of the gaskets that they can wear without contacts and also have two more pairs of lenses to use when wearing their CL's.

Ditto Chip... Yellow will be much too bright for the one pair of sunglasses in all ambient light conditions. Also, remember to convey the inverse relationship of greater light transmission to lesser effective polarization.

Check out the web site of a company called Ice-Tech, they have a yellow polarized lens that offers maximum polarization. Would be available as plano or Rx.

    International Optics

Myra - thanks for your help with my patient. It's great to know that there is a good referral source through Optiboard. Imagine a New Zealander in Van Couver being able to see someone they are confident with because they were referred!?! Incredible isn't it?
