    Optical Labs in San Diego

Do any of you guys know of any independent small optical labs in San Diego? I'm not sure which of you optiboarders are even from around this area.. but how would I go about looking for a reputable one short of google searching? I really want to expand my craft and learn the surfacing aspect of it.. Any help would be much appreciated..!!

All large companies are not willing to teach you the ropes. They want you to be good at one job. If you are lucky they will let you do an operation if they are short on personal.

Look for smaller independent owner, were you wiooll be abnle to learn the wole operation.

Have to agree with Chris, the smaller the better and make sure it's an independent.

Lenscrafters does a good job of showing you how to go through the motions but unless you have a tech or manager with a lot of optical knowledge you wont understand the why's of everything.

Actually, Essilor purchased them a while back...

Are you looking for a lab to work for, or just one to take a tour of and maybe hang out to see how it is done?

Im looking for a lab to do a possible internship in.. I just got a job at Costco, but because they don't have an internal lab... I would like to work at an independent lab and learn the ropes on my day off... It's really important to me that I learn the inner workings of an optical lab so I understand what goes on behind processing people's glasses... So I can connect the theoretical with the practical.. I hope a lab will be accomodating to my needs..

I would start with Precision and see if they are interested. The lab I work for is in Whittier so it would be quite a drive but I will be happy to ask if you can come hang out with us if you feel like a heck of a commute!
