    Lens Cleaners

Is there a cleaner for AR Coated lenses that will make them fog proof. We had a hunter in today that bought Transitions lenses with Alize and he asked if we could make them fog proof it seems when it gets cold out his breath can cause the lenses to fog. Maybe theres more to his breath :D

there is one product that can be applied by the optician in office.

A hydrophobic coating that is providing anti-fog and anti -stat properties.
It can be applied over anything that the AR coated lens or non AR coated one has al;ready on it without adverse effects.

Fogging up will dissipate within 8 seconds compared to 56 seconds on a non treated lens when tested. (Test= pull lens at a distance gh steam emmitted by a kettle.)

    another solution:

Not a lens cleaner but a 100% effective anti fog chemical. Fully compatible with any AR coated lens.
Application: clean lens. Apply product, either in spray or in cream. Spread well over lens and let dry. The wipe any smudges left wirh a dry tissue paper.
Properly applied will give 100% results.

Test: Place in freezer for 30-40 seconds and remove from freezer. The treated lens will not even attempt to fog up. An untreated lens will instantly have an icy fog layer.

Can be seen at http://optochemicals.com (look for Super Hydrophobic and Zero-Fog)

There is something called Cat C-R-A-P, yes it is actually called that. I am trying to remember who makes it though. It is a cream in a little like facial cream thingy.

Of course, as him to try the old hand soap thing. When I was a child and played hockey that is what I always did.

I love that one.................When you sold a pair of nice glasses for $ 400.00, do hand the patient a block of sunlight soap so he can smear it on his new glasses?

    Same problem

I have had a number of patients that also asked for a good anti-fog cleaner for their AR coated lenses. I tried a number of them but it seems most just rub off and don't do anything at all. I hired a chemical lab to see if they could find some thing that would work. I will post a note when I get the results.

No, they could find it for themselves.

I tell customers that using a sunlight soap is a good way to keep their glasses clean too if they do not use the cleaner.
