    That wax exactly my point. Wants -v- Needs. It appeared as though this patient, and in my opinion, a lot of patients are never presented with WANTS. They only get to hear about what the dispensing Optician thinks they NEED. Perhaps it's harder than I think to hear people say, "No" over and over again, but I still believe they need to be presented with the very best first.

    I've heard of international places that aren't governed by the same federal regulations as us.. where they would surface 1.80 high index glass paper thin in very strong minus prescriptions.. draw back was that you could basically snap the lens in half with your fingers fairly easily.. I've heard of this practice in Hong Kong and have actually seen a pair of glasses that my friend had.. he was above -6.00 D in both eyes and he wanted me to fix his glasses but I was amazed how thin they were... said I couldn't do it.
