Confused UV coat vs Hardcoat problems

I have heard that UV coating/tinting is not advised due to the make-up of the UV dye, and this interferes with the hardcoating/stripping of hardcoat of the lenses.I have been told that the oils in the UV cause interference with the caustic bath.
Does anyone have any information on whether this is possible or how we can achieve this without causing problems.

    Please inform a misinformed soul......

    Thanks.

    UV tinting and AR

You have a real concern as the AR's ability to adhear the the lens is directly related to what it is bonding to. If you try to apply AR to a surface that is not properly prepared it may not hold up.

Many labs will ad AR to almost any lens sent for AR. Then the customer complains about poor adheasion. The correct surface preparation for one lens is different from the surface preparation for another with either a different base material or a different surface which could be the result of the tinting. Without knowing the actual properties of what you are using and performing a trial it is almost impossible to know the result.

We had the same problem and decided to allow the lab to process the whole job instead of trying to save money. Best thing we ever did. They are incontrol from start to finish. We do edge them though ourselves. We do close to 50% AR every month.

poly lens vs poly motorcycle wind shield

I don't know not much about surfacing jobs. However....., I sand off surface of poly motorcycle windshield and spray poly meridian primer and then apply color base paint and then clear sealer when I work on motorcycle body works...

I am just guessing maybe you should can find something to "etch" the surface of the lens and then coat it again with "primer" for AR for better adheasion!!

Well, your turn to share your experience...
