How does one go about obtaining the study material to prepare for the Advanced Certification. exam. I am dual licensed and didn't take any formal education for either but I really feel that I will need to go to an optical tech school to prepare. How did you current ABO Masters go about your path to obtain that degree?
If you contact the ABO (www.abo-ncle.org) they will send you a ABOA handbook, with a breakdown of content on the exam, and a list of their recommended study books.

Be sure to request the textbook that describes how many employees make you an "official manager," too. ;)
I can't speak for the current ABO-AC exam, which I understand addresses several irrelevant topics, but just about everything you needed to pass the original exam can be found in System for Ophthalmic Dispensing, 2nd Ed by Brooks and Borish.

The ABO commissioned the NAO to produce an ABO Advanced review course and book. It is being printed now. Contact the NAO at 800-229-4828.
