Thanks, its my granddaughter Ava (of the avatar) aged 20 months. Watching her discover things for the first time has been awesome. I think we tend to miss that, bringing up our own children. We become too busy parenting to watch that closely.Being a grandparent is the BEST!

I'm doing it because I basically just set up as a Pro-Photographer. Looking at the work and philosophy, they are not specifically looking for Pro's or Semi-Pros, but just good photo's. I am pleased I can do my bit for charity. I chose to keep the photographers commission for myself, because basically - it is quite a lot of work to upload the photographes, and keep tabs of everything. My advice is to have a go, it only costs your time, and if you raise yourself or a charity some money, then everyone wins. -

I finally got around to getting a "new" camera. I took a chance and bought a Olympus C-7000 Zoom on E-bay. It's used but in great condition, and it was an excellent deal for a camera with 7 megapixels and 5x optical zoom.

I'm still trying to figure out all the bells and whistles, but my kitty was kind enough to let me practice on her.:)

Did you look at the pics in the galleries? Some really cool stuff there. My fav is the spider web ice picture.

Here is what he said in the Artist Info section:

I purchased a Zone VI 4X5 field camera, a couple of “how-to” books, and away I went. Today, I have a Pentax 645 system that I use for extreme close up work but I shoot with my English made Walker Titan 4X5 field camera over 90% of the time.

He also told me it is a large camera with plate negatives and that he gets bnehind it and under the sheet to take the pics. I made the mistake of asking him if he enhances any of the prints! I told him how do you make the water look like that on the waterfalls and the rapids and he tells me it is filters, shutter speeds, and skill!

I received the book I bought from Amazon today (I did tell him that also and he said he still liked me!). It has pics not on the site and it is phenomenal! I guess 20 years will get you that good.

My hubby bought me my first digital camera for my birthday last year and since then I can't keep my hands off it! My favorite shots are scenery of places we fish at,and I've a fetish for old log structures. The one pic of the mountainside was taken from my front porch, and is the portrait of 'Frosty' who's profile appears when the snow falls on the west side of Hope Mountain, across the street from us. (Interestingly, I've found that many men cannot see the face, though I've yet to have a woman unable to see it as far as I'm concerned its plain as day. Weird, huh?)

Cindy - so it was a 4x5. I have one as well. It's a Crown Graphic. If you remember in any of those old B&W movies from the 30's the press (media) guys had these cameras with a huge flash arrangement? Well, that's waht it looks like. It uses sheet film - and you load it ONE picture at a time. I use to have a lot of fun with it. The downside was I had to buy more expensive darkroom gears for enlarging beyond 4x5 in pictures. The enlarger I had would make 16x22 inch photos.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I'm in Europe most of June on work assignments. So while I'm typing this reply I'll include a picture or so (digital quickies) I took over here.

Yes, it is the Old Cape Henry Light. You can pay a small fee and climb the spiral staircase and go up inside. The views are phenomenal form there of the cape and Ft. Story.
