How have you guys been doing with Liberty

I have not been very excited. I have found as a switch over from Flat Top wearers to PALs it has been a failure. I grade it as a failure, because it has been no more or no less successful as a switch than other lenses I have used.

It all comes down to customer motivation when you do the switch.

Has anyone else found otherwise or have they found another niche for it.

Remember, when I measure the switch I am comparing it to other lenses, and since it is made for Flat Top wearers it should perform better than other lenses.

Actually, I've done fairly well with Liberty. I think it's a matter of communication as much as anything else. Liberty is not an "instant" solution. My successful conversions understand that it's still going to take some work and patience on their part.

In Europe Liberty is sold as a budget varifocal at a price to make it attractive economically to switch from bifocals.
Apart from it,s cost it has nothing else to make it a lens to choose if switching a
    bifocal wearer to varifocals.

I think Essilor are just out to make a fast buck out of you guys.

    I think so too.

Essilor can say what it wants, but it has been trying to get of the Flat Top industry for years. I think it saw that a lot of people were still wearing flat tops, so it decided to market towards them. So it took a lens design that was fairly simple that would allow maybe a smoother transition and jacked up the price.

I have found that the liberty works good for people who want to read at a higher angle and do not require an intermediate range... case in point i had a patient in a genesis and the reading was too low for her so i put her into the liberty and she loves them... on the flip side i couldve probably put her into a short corridor progressive and had equal success...

Liberty being one of the few Essilor products we use has been working well for us as a Task oriented lens.
