ESSILOR DONATES ONE MILLION SINGAPORE DOLLARS
TO THE SINGAPORE RED CROSS SOCIETY

DALLAS -- (January 20, 2005) –Essilor International announced today that it is contributing one million Singapore dollars (equivalent to roughly six hundred and twelve thousand United States dollars) to the Singapore Red Cross Society to aid victims of the tsunami.

“As we begin this new year, our hearts are burdened for the Asian countries which have suffered from the tsunami. We wish to express our deepest condolences to those who have been affected by this horrific event and our hope is that Essilor’s contribution will assist victims who are attempting to reconstruct their lives,” said Hubert Sagnieres, president of Essilor of America.

Essilor, which has operations in Asia, was fortunate that none of Essilor’s employees throughout its Asian-Pacific sites were victims or injured in the disaster.
