Prescription glasses as cheap as Co-Payment.

In countries like India, you can buy excellent prescription glasses for prices much lower than what you pay as co-payment in USA.Why should we not use this as some of the eyeglass companies over there meet international standards, are FDA approved and have direct distributors in USA.

I think I can give you a few reasons:

    1) Workers cost more than 200USD per month
    2) The product overseas is domestic made and not subject to shipping costs, duty, and other fees.
    3) Cost of living in most parts of the third world is a fraction of the cost to live in USA.
    4) The eyecare in the US is amongst the finest in the world. There is a price you pay for the educated, highly trained person taking care of you.

3 things you do not want to seek bargain pricing on:

    1) neurosurgery
    2) parachutes
    3) eyecare

Why not open your own optical in India! Then fly over your clients from the Bay area for a cheap pair of quality glasses and some Biryani.

Sure! You can open the optical over there, but the reason AMEX, and all the phone companies have employees over there is because they're paying them close to nothing! Dell just moved their business support dept. back to Texas because of all the complaints.

The workers their could probably use glassses, but you can be it won't be an employee benefit.

Shyamsam77 sounds like he's putting feelers out for some kind of internet or mailorder eyewear. (Just what it looks like to me)
