Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. Introduces the A20 Compact AR Coating System

CHESTER, Va., November 11, 2004 – Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. today announces the introduction of the A20, the newest member of the company’s anti-reflective coating equipment family. The powerful yet compact A20 coating system is suitable for labs of all sizes.

“We are excited to introduce the A20, our latest invention in lens coating technology,” said Al Miranda, vice president, system technology, Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc. “The size of the A20 and the extent of its capabilities make it easier for more labs to apply premium Zeiss AR coatings in-house.”

The A20 is capable of producing double-sided coatings on up to forty lenses (twenty pair) in less than 1 hour’s time. When operated as a stand alone, the A20 can produce Zeiss Super ET® and Gold ET processes. When used as part of the new ICS20 Integrated Coating System, the A20 is capable of producing both Carat® and the new Carat® Advantage coating packages.

The A20 is conveniently operated by touch screens and facilitated for updates from a modem. Process overviews are available by pull-down menus. Process status can be saved and continued in the event of a breakdown.

Carl Zeiss coatings and equipment are consistently recognized for their quality and performance. They have both received several industry awards of excellence in the past.
