    Question Problems with finding contacts

    hello,

this is my first post here, i tried searching on the forum but couldnt find any answers.

anyway it seems that i cant find a contact that has teh base curve of 8.9 and a diameter with 14.5, and both left and right cylinders of -1.25 i cant find anyting that matches it.. ciba focus toric lenses has the right diameter and basecurve, this is what i am using now, but i cant choose a cylinder of -1.25 ONLY -1.00 and -1.75 .... the closest i can find is contacts that have the correct cylinder, but the base curve is 8.6 and diameter is 14.4 ...

does the base curve really matter? or make a difference if i get one that is 8.6 instead of 8.9 ?

my perscription is just 2 weeks old... i am trying to order from visiondirect.com

here is a list of the toric lenses that i was searching through...

    http://www.visiondirect.com/la/produ...=11889&trxp3=2

i just cant find one that has the cylinder of -1.25 and the base curve of 8.9 and diamter of 14.5 ? i called up my doctor and she said that the base curve is important, if it is smaller it might not fit on my eye and when i move my eye the contact will move too... please help, thank you!

    Do it yourself eye care.

Base curve matters a lot more than the .25 of cylinder you will be doing without.
You would do better ordering from a responsable on the spot practioner/fitter who can take care of you. Those mail order houses have a lot of trouble seeing what is wrong and correcting it in individual cases.

    hello chip,

so what your saying is, i could still get my brand i am comfortable with now which is ciba focus toric contact lenses, with both cylinders of -1.00 ? and keep the same base curve which is 8.9 and 14.5... :) on my last perscription, my cylinders for both eyes were -1.00 now when i get it checked my doctor says its -1.25.... its hard to order contacts from her optical because it is really high priced, i would save so much ordering from visiondirect, so its ok to order with the same cylinder i have been using -1.00 instead of -1.25 ? thanks...

OptiBoard cannot offer medical advice. In this case, it sounds like the info you are looking for involves instructing you to change your prescription. You need to contact your doctor or contact lens fitter.

I am closing this thread since we cannot provide the information you are looking for.
