How is Gucci doing? How about Calvin Klein?

Anyone willing to offer their opinions on Gucci and Calvin? Selling? Problems? "Freshness/staleness"? Thanks!

Gucci sun is still strong, CK = snore. Though it was a good replacement for Armani when Lux let it go, which was also a bore but a safe mens frame.

CK....CK....CK...CK...CK....CK...CK....CK....CK....CK....CK. ...You know, it DOES kind of sound like someone snoring....

CK is the King of Snoozers in this part of the country.

I hear WM does well with Safilo, I guess they'll have Gucci there pretty soon also.

What's hot for the trendy crowd in mid-price range (about $200)?

I do quite well with Pro-design in that price range. Ultra trendy and easy company to deal with.

    Calvin Klein and Gucci

Calvin Klein has a decent ophthalmic line and the suns are just so-so. The Ck line I would't bother with. Gucci suns are great and the ophthalmics are ok. These are well respected designer names. I think it is a shame that Gucci is not ultra high end like they are in much of there clothing and shoes in the world. Both are ok. For people who are looking for some brand recognition in their life.

My estranged Calvin rep was in yesterday after the post, to drop off the new catalogue. The Calvin line looked mildly trendy, understated cool, appealing to boomers more than younger patients. The CK ophthalmic struck me as rather weird, and has a young, young demographic.

I agree that Gucci should be positioned as top-of-the-line, but I don't think Safilo does A-1 quality (A-2, maybe) and doesn't have a unique vision for Gucci ophthamic, since it crosses over to other lines of theirs.

That Pro-design of Denmark does look intriguing. I'm looking for around $175 retail with edginess that would appeal to young and middle ages, and that may just fit the bill.

    DRK-

I have been carrying Pro-design since their inception into the eyewear market. I have never had any trouble unloading them. They also have ALOT of styles that come in all kinds of color combos and sizes. I am not sure what your patinet demographics are, but I know with mine we see more 25-45 year olds. The pro-design is a perfect line for these types of folks! Good Luck!

Two years ago, my Marchon rep left to go to another major line, I haven't seen a rep for any of their lines since; can't give away CK (i've tried). too many other good choices. Like Jana, i've carried the Pro-design line for ever- really good quality, and trendy, not my average clientele, but good fringe line. Silhouette and Tura are far and away my best sellers..

The cK opthalmic line is great and has been selling through well. Calvin is a little more conservative, but I hear big changes in style and design is just around the corner.

Gucci's are doing very well for us!
It's the ladies that go crazy over it.
I always keep 8 Rx'able Ladies Sunglasses in stock and they keep selling over and over again.

Haven't had a request for CK so I have no interest in getting the line.

Gucci still alive and kicking. Calvin, nowhere near it.

We sold through our Guccis a few months ago. I have a pair of Guccis that I wouldn't wear if it weren't for the Hoya Hi-Vision 1.71 lenses mounted in said frame.

My Guccis are very heavy, considering they're stainless steel.

They just didn't sell very well (and we've never carried cK)

We carried Gucci and while it did ok our rep was horrible We got rid of it. Regular Calvin dead dead dead. We just brought in CK and doing great with it. Teens to late 20's love it(I was surprised it did so well)

Speaking of something cool to bring in(other than ProDesign)we are needing to replace our Burberry(lux), any ideas????

Both are very slow. Gucci doesn't seem to have the variety of shapes and treatments that it used to have. The new Calvins, like drk said, are cool, understated and trendy, but even with that they don't sell well. Our Gucci rep is fantastic and has been with them forever. Our Calvin rep is relatively new to the line but long-time in the business and pretty good.

How about Kio Yamto's O&X NY line. Trendy and not as expensive as the Kio Yamato's
