    HI for rimless?

I just heard about new HI 1.70 lens that suppose to be as good as Poly or Trivex for rimless jobs. Don’t know any specifics like name or manufacturer. I would never work with HI over poly in the rimless (although would be nice to have thinner lenses in some cases).
Does anybody use HI with rimless and if yes-how’s the breakage? Anybody heard of the new lens?

When you use the term Rimless are you speaking about a grooved lens or a 3 piece mounting?

I've made quite a few screwed rimless and Silhouette Titan type jobs using 1.67 High Index, Seiko Proceed both in clear and the Transitions material.
It works well with no problems.

There's also a 1.6 and 1.67 single vision lens we get on our local market which is recommended for screwed jobs, we call it Boxer here, the lens is from the Far East. I've made hundreds, not even one crack... more than can be said for the high problem rate we are getting these days from Polycarbonate.

The Hoya 1.7 material also comes out well with rimless and grooved frames.

As far as I'm concerned, I never want to see Poly again!!!!!

In that department, Trivex (Phoenix) rules

The good feature with 1.6, 1.67 and 1.7 materials is that they are cut and edged conventionally (with water)

Even though I've edged many dozens of Trivex lenses, they make a real mess on my edger and are a pain to groove and clean for nylon cords.

I would be very interested in more info on "The Boxer" you mentioned.

Nikon offers a warrnaty on drilled and grooved lenses on any index above 1.6. I've rarely encountered problems with hi-index lenses in these types of mountings.
