Hello chm2023. I would not venture to predict how the country would react to another AQ attack on the scale of 9-11. I think it would be to our advantage to decide on what we think is the optimal program of national security policies and stay with that program, even if there are more AQ attacks. I have posted at some length about why I think that our objectives for Iraq are critical to national security. I would certainly not dispute what you are saying about conditions in Afghanistan. I think we need to keep pressing NATO hard to put more effort into Afghanistan. I think that some back-sliding in Afghanistan is tolerable for the present. I am hoping that we have just about neutralized the Al Sadr militia problem in Iraq after the confrontations of the last few days in and around Najaf. Progress in Iraq creates the prospect of shifting some of our assets from Iraq to Afghanistan. I guess I just can't stop bubbling over with enthusiasm.
