Gerber Coburn Adds Two Advanced Polishes to Consumables Line

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. – Gerber Coburn introduces two new plastic polishes, HA-1 and V-2100, for processing plastic and polycarbonate lenses.

According to Marc Okrant, group product manager, Gerber Coburn, our newest plastic polish Series HA-1 and V-2100 employ the latest particle and suspension technology which results in excellent chemistry compatibility. Both polishes’ particle and chemical components complement one another – the chemicals allow the particles to stay in suspension longer and they assist in the removal rate.

“What makes HA-1 and V-2100 so unique is that lenses can be processed at maximum stock removal rates but with minimum surface roughness results,” Okrant stated. “If you compare the stock removal rates and surface roughness of our new polishes to the top-selling polishes, you will find similar stock removal levels, but HA-1 and V-2100 yield lower surface roughness levels. With this type of processing, the particles work more efficiently so there is a reduction in haze. Overall, lenses achieve a higher visual clarity.”

According to Okrant, another huge benefit of using either polish is that distribution line and equipment corrosion is eliminated. He went on to explain, “Because the polishes have a non-corrosive chemical suspension, the polishes won’t damage the equipment or any exposed metals.”
