Does anyone know what the difference between the two mother boards is?
I've heard that the 4t's that were used in Walmarts will only work on their propriety network. Does anyone know what's involved with getting one to work in single station mode? Is it just a matter...
who here, in their early days, got sent to another shop to borrow their lens stretcher.
this might actually be the most helpful tip out of this whole thread. this is a GREAT book! anyone that hasn't read it, no mater how long you've been in the industry, will learn something from it.
it really depends on the frame design. you mentioned the material being plastic; i don't know if you mean the lens or the frame. if the frame is plastic you can put it in a frame warmer to soften it...
does anyone here know if the optronics 4t with ethernet is compatible or can be made compatible with the horizon III? for example, if the ethernet box is removed, will it reveal a usable com port?
well, one down side that comes to mind off the top of my head is that it makes the eye-wires different sizes, so if they ever get new lenses in them it could cause a head ache for the lab doing it....
a way to tighten the eye-wire of a metal frame is to file down the end of the eye-wire to make the barrel shorter. not too much though - the barrel still needs to be strong enough not to split.
i wouldn't use a hand stone. it isn't made to cut metal and the diamond bonding can break loose to expose the bare metal wheal. also, i find i get less slippage with a nice square end on the blade,...
you can put it in the hot air frame warmer on LOW and it'll be ready in a few min. if you do it hot though it'll bubble up. although the bubbles don't really hurt anything i guess. also if you start...
two words, bald barber.
this is one of many reasons i'm glad i'm not in retail anymore.
I noticed the e-bay sale is ended. Has this been sold?
has it had any major components replaced in its 66,880 cut lifetime?
Does anyone have any documentation for the Daytona? I've looked high and low with no luck.
yeah, i like the horizons a lot. i think if things go well i might get one in a few months. right now though i'm looking at the daytona and the mark v.
thanks for the info guys! and braheem24,...
After a hiatus from the lab, I've decided to open one of my own. I found a Daytona edger pretty cheap but I'm unsure about getting it. If you've used one, how do you feel about it? I know it's old...
That's crazy! I did exactly the same thing 5 years ago. with a kappa no less. what are the odds?
the 20/179/0000 is the white uni posca marker. it is an opaque marker that is useful for marking a lens for machines that use cameras for layout like the kappa blocker. it can also be good for...
i'm afraid that i'm going to be in the minority here, but i don't care. chip is correct about the insurance billing. the only way to get a fair price from them is to itemize your billing so you can...
if you get an ar coating that you're having trouble stripping (the chemicals won't get it totally off), you can get the remainder of it off by taking a polishing pad, wet it with polish, and rub the...
so you grind the 1.67? the trivex is on the front? how thick is the trivex layer? seems like delamination could be a problem.
haven't tried yet, but at the moment i doubt it. when i was inspecting one of the "pimpled" lenses my finger went through the center. i was pressing it fairly hard but sill. :shiner: i'm thinking...
wow! i did, and the first result was the post above this one!
