Sync 5 has a 0.57 boost. It seems to be closer to 0.75 though, at least that's what I measured in my own pairs.

The 0.95 and 1.32 boost zones are about 3mm lower compared to the 0.57.

Thanks. Fitting height is 24 in a 38 B frame and sync 5 has a higher boost zone comparable to short corridor progressives, so it should work out great.

I have 3 pairs with these lenses, each fit...

Does Hoya Sync 5 have an inset?

I'm sure it has at least some but how much? I'm looking at the fitting chart but it does not show. I have a friend who's a high hyperope and as such he has to converge quite a bit for near through...

Well yeah but what about people with really poor balance who are looking for something to grab with every slow step they take? A regular corridor (14mm) gives them some clearer intermediate vision to...

    Balance issues and corridor length

Every now and then I get older clients with very poor balance. They constantly look downwards searching for something to hold on to. I've always avoided short corridors for these people since it...

I always ask my clients to sit in a relaxed position the way they sit in front of the TV. I measure the fitting height in this position then let them stand up and compare. Usually this is about 1mm...

Both clients had progressives before with the same VD. Surely increasing inclination and lowering the fitting height a bit should improve optics?

    Very long vertex distances

Do you do anything different for clients with very long vertex distances? I've had two clients last week with a vertex distance of 20-22mm. They prefer wearing the frame this way so there was no way...

No idea but there's something strange going on. Patient has some difficulty looking left with the left eye which would indicate left esophoria. Base out prism makes it easier to look left but worsens...

I'm curious now. These are marketed as night driving lenses, but would they also help people with cataracts in daytime since they reduce glare?

Turns out I'm used to looking more to the right because it feels more comfortable without correction. It's a habit I acquired to compensate for my phoria. It's funny I realize this just now because...

I've had these for a week now. I'm pretty happy but the add portion in the left lens is very narrow, probably because of my base in prism. I had to decenter the left PD 0.5mm, hopefully that didn't...

I'm still wondering though: does Blue Control get dirty more quickly? I'm going to order new lenses tomorrow and I'm thinking 10% rose would be a good alternative.

Well it was just a guess. Our software does predetermine the blank size based on the PD and height I order. That would change how the lenses are cut.

Exactly. That's how all orders are done where I work. So even though the PD doesn't matter I'd still expect a different cut depending on the PD I input.
