+-0.25 change comes and goes, nothing really to worry about. Some places have a 6 month policy where if your prescription changes due to medical reasons, often cataract, they will redo the lenses.

Tropicamide is preferred for short term effects, cyclopentolate in some cases as well. But atropine isn't that commonly used over here during normal examinations , at least not that I know of.

Polarized filters don't work for everyone. What if the patient has no binocularity or there is a monocular difference in VA, say, 2 lines or more?
^ People want more minus as if it's on sale!
I don't see the point in trial framing when you're about to dispense glasses to someone. Especially if you can't modify the RX or don't know...
Do private practices have enough volume to be able to disregard outside Rxs?
Hehe. :)
We have a set price in addition to the price of the lenses customers have to pay if they want to use their own frames. This discourages most people and they end up buying new frames, which are...
Forgive my ignorance, but is poly something that is widely used in the US?
I don't see how putting a random amount of prism in one eye is going to be helpful. If you have phorias, then sure, prism could help ease the symptoms. Perhaps he's hoping that accommodation will...
Problems are often caused by a difference in retinal image size. In such cases the brain is unable to combine monocular visual information from both eyes into a single binocular one.
Best thing...

Sounds like they'll be dispensing glasses with autoref results, oh dear.
Thanks for the laugh! :)
Shamir Duo?

Interesting, thanks!
Sure, why not. The lens of the eye functions as a blue blocker in a sense, as in the further cataract develops the more blue light is absorbed by the lens. With this in mind it is reasonable to...
What's your CL RX?
Hi Bok. The general rule of thumb is that in the major angles 30, 45, 60 and 90 is 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the cylinder power respectively. For off-axis powers the following equation is used: DT =...
I don't take OC with low powers if an RX lens is required due to insufficient lens diameter, whereas you could get by with a stock lens with the OC vertically in the center of the frame. There is no...
We sell some frames by Fossil, "new" models come in every now and then. They're OK, I guess, but perhaps not my to-go pick. Not sure where we get them from since it's a large chain :(
Oh, and...
No, it was the first time wearing that new pair and I threw them away. Tried a second pair of the same lens today and the issue remains. It would seem the problem has something to do with this...
Long story short, ordered monthly contacts with the same prescription I use in my daily disposable ones.
OD -8 OS -8.5. Visual acuity with daily ones 1.5 and crashed with monthly ones down to...
Doesn't myopia generally decrease with age due to cataract? I find it somewhat funny when people above the age of 50 come in and say their vision has 'gotten better', say from -3 to -2. Sure it could...
What about measuring the difference between monocular PD taken binocularly and monocular PD with the other eye covered. Question is, how would you measure the amount of combined prism and its axis in...
