Between this guy and another who is sensitive to 0.01 diopter difference in prescription (only slightly exaggerated), I'm already walking around with half of my skull gone. Vacation can't come soon...
I 100% understand what you're saying, and I did the best I can already at making your same points abundantly clear to him--not only when he first ordered, but during his visit today as well. I can...
Hi folks,
I was paid a visit this morning by a fellow who picked up his glasses a couple of weeks ago. This is what he received:
OD -0.75 +1.00 x005
OS -1.50 +1.75 x163
+1.50 add OU
Varilux...
Hi everyone,
My employer, Aurora Health Care, is looking for three experienced opticians to staff our Hartford and West Bend Aurora Vision Center locations. Two positions are full-time, one...
Hi everyone,
Asking here because my lab rep is out, and I'm hoping to get these ordered today. For Essilor Sunwear Colors, I'm familiar with the typical recommendation of Xperio AR for polarized...
I've only fitted a handful of them; I've only run into one complaint from someone for whom I wasn't the fitter/dispenser. My ST bifocal wearers have done well with Shamir Duo, mostly recommended for...
Haha! Yeah, Quince, give us your $0.02!
I'm not a poly fan, either, but I was a dummy and let the patient make her own material choice based on cost. 88-year-olds and their fixed incomes...yeesh.

Hi everyone,
I saw a patient recently who received a two-fold increase in her cylinder power due to corneal changes (Fuch's corneal dystrophy). She wears FT28 bifocals with anti-reflective...
This guess may be a stretch, but it sounds like a symptom of crazing. I'm not sure what the optics of a crazed hard coat look like, but my crazed Crizal Sapphire lenses had a horizontal blue line at...
I've had very good luck over the years with frames from Morel. I own two Koali acetate frames that have never needed readjustment. Tura's acetates have also worn well on my patients.
I'll precede my response with this caveat: of the other brands, the only I have experience with is Hoya.
What I found while I was fitting this lens (which I haven't over the last year or 18 months)...
Hi y'all,
When my shop opened in September, I was given a large number of stale frames from other offices in my organization. Patients have generally not been interested in these frames due to...
However inevitable it was, my jaw still hit the floor when I saw this on my Google news feed.
I don't mean to criticize your motivation for starting this thread, MrOptician, but I am wondering why it is so important that you find lens cleaner recipes. If it's in the spirit of offering...
These are some that my organization uses. I am not a billing/coding specialist, so I won't be able to answer questions about the context for each modifier.

These are exactly the things I say to patients when initially dispensing. It is extremely important to explain to the patient that the eyes and brain need time to adapt to a new prescription or lens...
I've done more thinking/reading and found a (pretty old) article suggesting different corridor lengths for each lens:
http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0039625798000393
The theory...
Yes, I meant base down.
Thanks for your feedback, Robert!
(An aside: back when I started lurking around here a couple of years ago, I was relieved to see that there is still at least one real professional here in Brew...
Thanks for your feedback, Hayde.
The prescription he wears currently is:
OD -1.00 +0.75 x003, +2.00
OS -2.50 +0.50 x166, +2.00
So, negligible change.
His eye doctor re-refracted this past May...
To preface: I've been fitting glasses on-and-off for five years; I started my most recent optical job 2.5 years ago. I now work at an optical located inside a medical clinic with a large...
