Okay, I admit it... I watch AMC (a cable channel that shows classic movies with no commercials). I happen to think that a lot of the truly great movies were made decades ago...
Anyway, I watched what has to be one of the saddest movies I've ever seen last night- "Splendor in the Grass," with Natalie Wood and Warren Beatty. However, I missed the first fifteen minutes (don't you just hate it when that happens?).
What in the heck happens between Wood/Beatty in the beginning of the movie that makes her mentally unstable until the end of the movie?
Thanks for any info you can provide on this decidedly non-optical topic (I really like this particular forum, Steve :) - it lets us remember that work isn't our ONLY interest).

Hi,
Her mother kept restraints on her and didn't want her chastity ruined and drove her crazy.

The way I remember it Pete was that during the first fifteen minutes Warren was her optometrist, and by mistake fitted her with a pair of -10.00 Haptics that were meant for someone else... that would be enough to drive anyone crazy.... after that, of course, you know what happens......

The two had a great love, they were the most popular in high school, etc. His father somehow with his great wealth and power managed to get them split up before he lost his money. Think she had already lost her chastity before this.
Title of movie was about the memories of the "Splendor in the Grass" neither could forget.
