Nylon lenses?
An on-line ad for SunGod sunglasses ( a start-up that makes shades that they say will last forever) promises lenses made of nylon. I assume some reporter got it wrong, they meant nylon frames --- but I am behind the curve a bit having retired a while ago. Is there such a thing as a transparent nylon compound?

I have never heard of this, either. So I googled."The material of nylon lens is TROGAMIDCX,which called transparent polyamide. It is a super-UV- resistant transparent crystal material. The volume of it are very small, and the visible light does not form a scattering. ... Nylon is the one of the best materials for making sun lenses."I wonder if this is a plano only lens material?

Yes Nylon lenses are a thing. Not as good as CR39 or glass, obviously.

Nylon - when you don't give any form of a crap WHATSOEVER about optics, and just want your magic sunglasses to "last forever" instead.:giggle:

We've got nylon frames on our market about 3-5 years ago. They are very lightweight and durable. But the audience did not appreciate and sales were low.

Nylon material used in frames or lenses is actually a material made in Switzerland ( EMS ) called TR90 ( Grilamid TR ). It was used to make sun lenses in around 1999 by a company in Hong Kong. It was named LYX at that time. Later on, this product was selling to Intercast ( now a essilor company ) exclusively. TR90 is very good to make frame becasue it is very strong and light in weight. Also very good to make lens because of strong and no problem to used in acetate frame ( PC material cannot ). However, it has a lot of problems to use it for optical lenses ( material is soft and thermo sensive i.e. not easy to edge)
It is possilbe to have frame made by nylon and also plano nylon lens.
