PD Adjustment for Intermediate/Reading Progressive Lens ?

Hi Guys,
I'm seeing conflicting PD for this type of lens. It is based on the manufacturer?
For a regular Distance/Reading PAL the Distance PD is used - standard. For the Intermediate/Reading PAL I see some say to use the Distance PD while others say to use the Intermediate PD. What is the optically correct answer?

PS - I know if we're making a Single Vision Intermediate (Computer) lens we usually reduce the Distance PD by 1.5mm. Is it the same for an Intermediate/Reading PAL?

If you use the intermediate p.d. the software's going to use that to calculate standard near inset, and it will be too much.

Just use an “office reader” style of digressive design and reduce the pd by .5mm
or 1mm OU if you must. DPD will be fine. Sigh.

Yep.

It seems to be a gray area because even now if you Google occupational lenses which are really computer progressive the different lens manufacturers are not on the same page. Some say use intermediate PD and others say Distance PD. I usually just minus 1mm from the distance PD until I saw it I thought I was doing it wrong.

My local lab always requires distance mono pds for near variable focus lenses.

Mine too.

There was a post here awhile ago discussing distance pd's for reading glasses, I'm sure Uncle Fester will find it before me but I will try and look for it.

I remember one manufacturer, maybe Zeiss, asking for the near pd on a task PAL, but I might be misremembering the context.

To the best of my knowledge all task PALs used today require a distance pd.

No worries. Until we eliminated the Access over 7 years ago, and went to IOT Office, I had to send daily reminders on how to enter RX and PDs for the Access to our front line opticians. I definitely don’t miss it, and the resulting call stacks. One would think that LDOs and ABOs wouldn’t need daily reminders?

Looking at 14" away with "Computer Progressives" claims that, with phrase "eliminated reminders", that when "eliminated" is in focus for OS then "reminders" is out of focus for OD. Moving the head (to the left slightly) so that "reminders" is in focus for OD, then "eliminated" is out of focus for OS. Could this mean that PD should have had the subtraction made per the above if the intention was to use at 14"?
