Yellowstone

A very nice few days were spent up in Yellowstone over the Labor Day weekend. Found this fine looking fellow not far off the side of the road. (Of note to this group, check out the gaping, antler prong sized hole in his skull, just in front of his left eye. The rut is no joke - these guys take it very seriously!)

Second shot is a bit of a tribute. A good friend and mentor in my astrophotography several years ago stood at this same location, and shot the Milky Way herself. The image she came away with inspired me to begin shooting the stars again myself. The edit and colors are not generally my style, but this was done purposefully this time as a bit of a thank you to her, and in honor of her image. I did have to shoot fast, as the steam from the thermal pools increased as the night got cooler, and my lens soon fogged over.
