I need and extra large bridge for a drill mount. Like a 28 ish. I have a pt who wants perfectly square lenses in a drill mount. I had demos made, now I need a frame that will allow him to wear them without the lenses jabbing him in the nose. any ideas where I might find such a thing? Thanks!

Good luck, I've never heard of anything close to 28mm bridge.
I don't know of any drill mount bridge wider than 21.
Chemistrie bridges come larger than 22, but aren't designed to work with normal thickness lens mounting.
Create a tab on the end of the lens you are making (will need to be cut with a specialised edger but is possible) so that the main shape of the lens sits away from the nose.
Drill the holes through the tab so it can be mounted to the frame.
Probably do the same on the temple side do it will look symmetrical.
If the ET is 2mm, Chemistrie bridge can work. Use a 1.4 hard fitting.
Chemistrie bridges don't have pad arms or nose pads. If the lenses were round(ish) and the lenses could ride on the patients bridge, you may get away with using their bridge pieces. I think a perfect square would be mighty uncomfortable. Now then, if you can solder pad arms on a Chem bridge....
I still say let the nasal corners dig into the pt's nose. Nose pad issue solved. DONE! :wink:
Patient must be an engineer, some of the pickiest pt's I have run across.
Good point. The drill position will need to be carefully selected and executed. However, laser welding pad arms would be an good option. This all depends on how much the patient is willing toQuote:

Personally, I wouldn’t touch it.
Take two bridges cut one in half and a piece out to the center of the second one and solder it together. If you don’t have experience soldering take it to jewelry repair store it will look perfect and it can be as large as needed.
I have a Mr Blue edger that I train students on @ the a local Opticianry school. I did a mock shape to show how to resolve this issue. Not exactly square but custom shape allowing for extended lens section for bridge mount.

Yep, that's exactly what I was talking about except I imagined the 'tab' to be lower down and smaller, and of course the shape to be squarer.
This is the best solution.
Oh and the same tab on the other side for symmetry
