Help edger groover halo
Hey I am new to the board.
I am a lab tech with a briot accura. it has all new wheels and groover. I have been having all kinds of issues with this machine but that is a whole other post.
Some of my semi rimless lenses have a white halo around the groove. it isn't doing it to all my lense and it doesn't seem to matter what material or rx the lens is or whether or not the lens is polished.
Any ideas as to what is going on or tips on fixing it?
Thanks!

Thats was I was thinking too but it is only happening occasionally which seems weird.
Here is a pic of a polished semi.

The other problem I am having is AR slippage! I keep having problems with AR coated lenses turning or falling off the block. I have tried 3m leap III pads and DAC Vision Hydroegde pads. I have never had so many problems with AR on the other edgers I have used. What the heck?

check your water flow.. I use DAC hydroedge pads on moderate hydrophobic coatings. For others it is hydroedge paired with tac anti slip. The groove issue may be related.. If you are polishing poly the groove disc might be getting wet and galling the poly. Poly is best cut dry. Also when was the last time the disc was changed..might be time

I use two leap pads on the left and right side of the lens for hydrophobic coatings.

Thank you guys! We adjusted 5he water flow on Tuesday so maybe the lenses we had issues with were before the adjustment. Since I adjusted the water my grooves seem much better. The disk is brand new.
And I will try adding an another anti slip to the lens and see how it goes! Thanks!

On the groove, its definitely too deep . You need to recalibrate the groove settings.

I use a liberal amount of orange hand soap in the water reserve, which I found helps kinda polish the inside of the groove. And yeah that groove is way to deep. I set mine to be flush to slightly above the lens surface when the string is in and tight. Recalibrate.
+6 for double padding good ar's!

We just hooked it up to fresh water s9 there is no way to add anything. But I will see if I can calibrate the groove depth. We had to adjust the water flow after we hooked it up to fresh water and since we did that I haven't had any more issues with the halo.
I am going to work tonight and I will double up the pads and see if that helps.

0.5mm should be the groove depth.

Regarding slippage, I see from your photo you're using the smaller clamping adapter. Change it up to the larger size when the lens size allows it. Also, crib the lens.
