I sold my grandparents a new pair a few months ago. They're complaining the lenses are getting dirty quickly, much more quickly than their previous pair (don't know the brand). One pair has Super HiVision EX3+ and the other Blue Control. I have only had a few customers complain about this. Most are very happy.
Is anyone else getting this complaint? Does the Blue Control coating get dirty more quickly? Would it make a difference if I replace those with a 10% pink or brown tint?
Do this simple test to see if there is an effective top coat on the lenses. Take a piece of Scotch tape about 10 centimeter long. Attach 2 centimeters to the front of the lens and suspend it by the tape the weight of the glasses should pull the tape off. This will show If the top coat is oleophobic which makes it easy to clean and resist dirt.

The simplest methods to evaluate the hydrophobicity of a surface are the use of particular dyes that have a specific surface tension or alternatively drop a drop (2-3 mm) of DI water and evaluate its angle of support on the lens (low angles 60-80 ° of lens support mean low surface tension, high angles 105/115 °) excellent water repellency (usually also excellent liporepellence).
The last time I found the Hoya products I found a 90-92 ° angle not bad but not the best (test made in Italy)
Turns out they've been cleaning them with Windex instead of the sprays I gave them... The oleophobic coating is most likely gone.
top coats based on PFA or PTFE normally resist almost all chemicals (but not wear and tear), silicone top coats have a lower seal and are removed by continuous washing with solvents

Knowing Hoya, whatever the absolute least expensive they could get their hands on for the biggest markup.
