Ncle help needed-cant seem to pass test

    Hi guys,

I've been a dispensing optician for 7 years at Costco. I love my job and want to advance in my career but I can't seem to pass the NCLE. I passed the ABO a few months ago. I do nothing with contacts at my job, so it makes it much harder to pass this test and I'm a terrible test taker to begin with.

I've used OTI training CDs/books and some online courses. Unfortunately, I live in Missouri which is a non-licensed state, so we don't have any classes offered locally.

    ANY RECOMMENDATIONS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

    Thank you!

Forget about trying to pass NCLE by reading some CL materials. ABO and NCLE is considered the most minimal of credentials... aim at something higher.
Go to any State College that offers optical CL theory and hands-on CL instrumentation, and the actual fitting of lenses. Think of it as going to a distant College after high school. Costco wants a CL fitter with confidence.

Good luck, hope you passed your ncle. I am at Costco also, one year in optical and 4 with the company. I have my ncle in 3 months so am starting studying.

I have a way to not only get your NCLE-basic credential but also become trained to the NCLE-Advanced level .
Join our 3-month BC College of Optics ‘CL Only’ training, which will start June 11th, 2018 here in beautiful Vancouver, BC CANADA. See our school website for CL course outlines... www.bccollegeofoptics.ca and registration form. And the US dollar is about 30% higher than our Canadian dollar.
Ask COSTCO for a 3-month ‘leave of absence’, and return in September 2018 as a fully-qualified CL fitter able to pass any CL competency exam anywhere. And COSTCO receives a confident formally-trained CL fitter. Your COSTCO pay raise will probably repay your CL tuition fees in no time, and your tuition fees may even be tax deductible in the USA.

So to revive a dead post, I hope you did well Erica. I am happy to say I passed my ncle, barley but enough.
