    Limits on Progressives ?

My fiance got progressives from Lenscrafters about 18 months ago with a -11 prescripion .. her new prescription is -12 and she is being told that no one can make a progressive that strong. True ?

They are feeding you a line, I used to work for LC. They have nothing for you ( we used to say "GLASSES FOR THE MASSES"). Go to an independant Optician or Optom.

Chains buy product based on volume discounts and sell you what they have.

An independant will typically sell you the best thing for your situation. Talk to a few dont get too confused by all the diffrent brand recommendations, find someone you feel you can trust and go with them.

They have options available... As long as the add isn't below 100 or higher than 300, they should have been able to provide a 1.67, Spectralite, or CR-39 lens. The frame stylist just probably didn't realize it. I know I certainly made and dispensed progressives in this range in my tenure there.

I do howeven recommend going to a private practice. With this type of rx, they will have a greater range of options, and should be able to provide faster service. This type of script will be a special order for them, and they can take up to 3 weeks on those.

that, as they say, is a pile of doggie doos - go find a proper qualified optician - I can come up with at least 5 options, without thinking too hard

Someone should trademark "Thin 'n' Heavy".

                  Some wearer love glass

In Thailand , we have many wearer of very high myopia who love glass PALs because the price much cheaper if compare with 1.74 Plastic PALs in the same product ( difference price about 35% ) and they love glass because the surface much more hard and very difficult to scratch. Then , they can used for more than 5 years. ( If it not break )

Our wearer in Thailand think about budget per year. This why they love Varilux Panamic Mineral 1.8 ( Cost per year is cheapest even compare with Hoyalux LX Wide 1.7 but Panamic much more better vision performance of all like double of triple better. )
