narrow set eyes

I have very narrow set eyes.any suggestions or problems on the progressives? I had one pair..lost them but was not happy with the closeup reading area(couldnt find it) the time i did have them..Always on top of my head..I have very mild -script. lost three pairs in the last year and dont need to experiment..Also i want alize or teflon AR.....can see for computer without any lenses.My priority to see great far and able the see enough to read (without wrangling)while not at home or short period when not wanting to change...I want a pair of Saks frames (169) I think they are 17mm? my op thinks all lenses are alike except for the designer prices...advice? thanks

Your choices are fine. Consider Genesis, by Shamir. What is the "17" associated with the frame? Fitting height? If so, try Piccolo.

I like the Varilux Ellipse. Very easy to find reading area for a smaller frame. However, it all comes down to the fittings whatever lens you go into.

Be careful with shapes that become very narrow towards the nose, decreasing the vertical length of the PAL (progressive addition lens), resulting in less reading depth than intended.

Use as narrow of a DBL (distance between lenses) as possible without increasing the wearers vertex distance (distance from lens to eye). Your optician should help you pick a frame that addresses both of these issues.

the 17mm refers to the bridge ...do you think thats too wide? I had a heck of a time choosing these....anyway you dont think my narrow width warrants individualized lenses? I get the impression you are all not so impressed with the new technology yet? Am I wrong? The cost must be prohibitive....Thanks again

If the bridge is only 17 mm, you have done a good job.

The only possible problem you may encounter with your narrow p.d. (as we call it) is that you may need less inset than standard, but your optician cannot control that variable very easily. I'd wait and see if it's even a problem in the first place. Don't worry about it unless something's wrong at pickup. Yes, individualized lenses would be one solution to that problem, but we're putting the cart before the horse.
