Just to state, once again, that I really appreciate the effort you've made in creating Opticampus and making it available to the industry. That's really never going to get you enough thanks for your effort, but you've done a great job, IMO.

I would like to ditto drk. I have stated in other posts that Darryl really makes me think. Thanks to his FREE website, optics lite program, optical analysis program, rx compensator, and his many articles that he has made available he has helped me learn so much more. Thanks to him I have recently purchased two more books on optics, which cost me $300.00 (maybe I can get reimbursed) to further my learning. So thanks and keep up the good work.

By the way, if you occasionally see a Zeiss / SOLA rep, you should probably thank them, as well, whether you plan to buy any products from them or not. After all, my company makes much of this possible. The same goes for any other company that tries to support your interests, whether directly or indirectly.Darryl J. Meister, ABOM

You know I have to say that I really appreciate all that Sola has done for opticians. No other company makes so much technical information available to everyone so easily. I have always been very impressed with their reps. They have a very impressive product knowledge and I have never heard one talk trash about another company or products. They are the first to say "Varilux is a very well designed lens". I appreciate that honesty. They provide free processing lab processing soft ware, that has helped us out in the past. Their technical services team are a delight to talk to. Sometimes I have a hard time trying to get off the phone with them because they enjoy what they are talking about so much. Besides they gave us Darryl Meister, who is very modest about his contribution to our field. Its a relief that we can get so much accurate info. He has helped many, many people understand the more technical side of opticianry and lens design through his articles, white papers, and computer programs not to mention his book INTRODUCTION TO OPHTHALMIC OPTICS all of which, I can personally say, have helped me to understand (at least partially understand) books by Jalie, Keating etc. Not to mention that our very own Steve Machol worked in Sola's R&D. Plus the history of this company including Zeiss and A.O. have been very impressive. Considering that this company has done so much to help me learn my ultimate goal is to work for them even if its just sweeping the floors (but they would have to pay quite a bit for that;) )

Agreed, I am quite new to the Optiboard forum and I have to say I was amazed at the quick response time to questions and sheer volume of optical know how posted here.
Darryl is surely a legend for his efforts and until I found these forums I was bashing my head against a brick wall trying to find tools that even came close to the usefulness of those available here.
A big thanks to Darryl and all the others who offer so much of their time, thanks to Zeiss (many of our patients ask for your lenses by name!) , and to Sola/AO (also popular lens designs) for helping to further the education of those within the industry.
Optics rocks and the more knowledge that is shared (there is always more to learn) the better for the industry and for the satisfaction of our patients, after all they are the ones who really matter when it comes down to it.

Darryl, I use OptiCampus many times each week, especially the calculation page. I appreciate your accessibility on this board, your desire to give us good information, and your passion for optics, as well as all the other contributions you make through OptiCampus. Thank you, and hat's off :cheers:Andrew
