Being from the Netherlands, licensure has been abolished since Jan 2017, and so far the quality has suffered. On the other hand, what Barry said is tested true. Young entrepreneurs (or in general entrepreneurs) get a chance to get into the glasses business. And MANY of these are way more knowledgable autodidacts than MOST of the Opticians that have been schooled in recent years. A closed market is hardly a fair market at all.
