    Purple Anti-Reflection

Hello! Just a quick question. I have a patient who purchased a purple frame, and was requesting an anti-reflection which has a purple sort of hue to it, as opposed to the green or blue. Can somebody suggest me a mid level anti-reflection which mainly features that purple AR? Something preferably in the Shamir, Essilor line that isn't a top of the line one. Or at least an anti-reflection offered from walman. Was thinking the Shamir Glacier AR had it, but I can't get that exact info anywhere it seems. Thank you!

Edit: Kind of similar to the Shamir Glacier Expressions, which I would use if the patient wanted that tier.

I don't know of a midlevel option. The only one I can think of is Crizal Prevencia

Yeah I was trying to avoid having to go with that one. I've heard it's not such great stuff. I might just put her in glacier expressions and call it a day, unless i get any other answers

Prevencia is the answer. Lenses will have a yellow cast to them. I think they look awful cosmetically.

Yeah they are pretty bad. Never use them unless the patient specifically asks. I just put her in shamir glacier expressions. Not exactly purple, but it looks like it has bits of blue/purple in it. Crisis averted

Hoya Recharge, Techshield Blue, and Prevencia all kinda look the same color of awful to me.

FEA's Independence Blue AR also has a distinct blue/purple cast.

Walman's Lumiclear Prevent has a purplish color on the frontside but I imagine it looks nearly identical to Prevencia since it's their "blue light blocking" option.

Yeah I tried to stay clear of any blue light anti-reflections, because I always assume it's going to have that yellow tint to it that I've found not a lot of people like. It's nice to have a few ideas of what I could use in the future though.

I don't recommend blue light, but if a customer is dead set on having it on their glasses I don't shy away from selling it either. Blue light filters while more noticeable than without it, still look 100x better than the purple crap. Sapphire with a blue light filter has worked out pretty well for stock lenses. If you sell Eyezen or any other digital SV usually they have a blue light filter as well. Most large lens companies are starting to go this direction so you should be able to find it in whatever lens you use.

Only caveat I've found is they are not available or are on a crazy back order in FT28. Just tried to do a Hoya EX4 with a blue light filter in Trivex and it was on a backorder indefinitely. Ended up switching to the purple crap because the patient had an aversion to poly.

Last thing, I just did an Amethyst Gen S Transition with Sapphire HR in a purple frame-- it looked pretty cool. Customer was pretty happy when I turned them dark at dispense.

Remember kiddies: if you block blue light - ANY blue light - your lenses will look yellow. Doesn't matter how you do it. There is literally no way around that simple fact of physics.

maybe im crazy but i've always liked the soft yellow tint, i like how it makes lights and white surfaces less harsh, especially when its super bright

I dunno if it's just me, but the Essential Blue lenses don't seem very yellow to me.

Neither do TechShield Blue or Hoya Recharge, especially compared to Prevencia.

Prevencia is by far the worst, but TechShield Blue and Recharge still don't look good in comparison to Sapphire HR or Super Meiryo EX4. It's not even close.
