    Lens Casting & FastCast

    Hi Everyone

I just won and EBay auction for a FastCast Sys. I'm gonna park it in the garage and play with it. But I dont really know how to use it? For $0.99 plus shipping I might as well
I called Optical Dynamics and was told they no longer support this system.

So is there anyone out there who can offer consult services on its use and where to get consumables.

    Thanks

You should still be able to get monomer from Optical Dynamics, sometimes Barry Sheppard has some on his list. You will also need mold release and decent gaskets.

Also try Opticast for monomer they should be the same material, also mold release.

Save yourself a huge headache and just blow it up.

There are many OD's that are no longer using the system but due to contractual obligations, have monomer still on hand. Ask the Optical Dynamics rep if he knows of anyone that would like to unload their inventory or try posting an ad in one of the many OD trade journals.

Could you tell me why you don't like the lenses please? From what I have seen the optics are not great, but then I have only seen a few pairs

Congratulations on your FastCast Sys acquisition! While Optical Dynamics no longer supports it, you can explore online forums or communities for advice on usage. Search for tutorials, user experiences, and tips. Consider reaching out to hobbyist groups or professionals experienced with lens casting. As for consumables, check online marketplaces or specialty suppliers. Engage with the community for guidance on reliable sources. Enjoy your $0.99 find and the exploration of this unique tool in your garage endeavors!
