    My 2 Cents

I'm glad a posting community exists for eyecare professionals. However, I get the distinct impression this community is more for eye docs and dispensing technicians and the like and not so much for front office/front desk/receptionist and office/practice managers, i.e. the clerical people.

I feel somewhat excluded and awkward posting here. I doubt there's very many receptionists and office managers who actually post here and who are extremely active int he conversations.

In addition, I don't find this community to be very welcoming. There's no separate forum for introductions and even if there was I highly doubt established members would post hellos and welcomes to newbies.

That said, I graciously bow out of this community. I thought I'd get something out of this and better myself as doc's receptionist and learn more about the eye field, but apparently I was wrong.

The way things have been going for me here, there's no way I'd stay let alone purchase a subscription to OptiBoard.

Please feel free to delete or deactivate this account altogether. Personally, I'd rather it'd be deleted, but if that's not possible then deactivation is fine.

Meh, I've heard the "I'm taking my ball and going home" spiel before. I'm pretty sure someone is still lurking around to see what others are saying after a very public goodbye post.

Suburban Gal was never attacked as far as I can see. Several people disagreed with her but I wouldn't call that an attack. Furthermore, she is right in one aspect- there aren't a whole lot of office managers/receptionists/dispensing techs (what IS a dispensing tech anyhow?) because a lot of us are independents and we are ALL of those roles PLUS trying to be a damned good optician as well.

No one would ever knock an office manager or receptionist that wanted more information about the specialized industry in which they are involved but you have to be pragmatic in your expectations; this isn't the I LUV FLUFFY BUNNIES forum. A lot of us are tired, underpaid, and gimlet-eyed and most everyone I know here calls it like they see it. IMO, You can't get bent out of shape about disagreements. Just hold your own.

Honestly, I really don't understand this complaint. I don't see anyone being rude in your thread here: http://www.optiboard.com/forums/show...actices-Charge

I understand if this site is not for you, but blaming your decision on other members who merely gave you advice which you asked for is really not fair. It may not be the advice you wanted, but that is part of the communication process.

Good luck with your future endeavors.
