    consumers...

    Question:

I know this has been adressed a little here and there but more specifically: Are you going to create a sub forum for consumer posts only?

    Feedback:

This board is a great service although im alittle shy at posting I intently read
the threads every night. This is truly the hub of perscription optics ( regardless of medium) in North America. please keep up the excellent work and forward this to all the mods if you so please.

    Sincerly

I might be wrong, but Optipedia - the WIKI - seems an excellent place to pop consumer reference material. Rather than addressing individual consumer questions, we could direct them to the relevant entry?

Sounds great, use wikipedia (or optipedia) and create entries as needed.

They do not answer all my questions, but I wouldn't mind if they did after
the answer was provided and refined here (or anywhere else for that matter).

Almost anything is better than the current horrible situation here.

Consumers will keep coming, because google is sending them.

As the tag line in the upper corner of each page states, OptiBoard is "the Premier Online Community for Eyecare Professionals.' This website was not created as a service to consumers.

Many of the questions consumers post can only really be answered in a face to face environment. Eyeglass and contact lens fitting often involves more variables than those posted in consumer threads. Other questions are seeking medical advice and really cannot be answered by anyone other than the consumers' doctors or fitters.

Google doesn't read the text in images.

Then why don't you close the board completely to consumers?

Consumers can get what they want out of Optiboard,.....

Consumers can get what they want out of Optiboard, they just have to be creative in the questions they ask and be willing to use the search engine which has been provided. One of the great sources of frustration to our professional members is that consumers ask the same questions over and over, expecting to be spoonfed by those who have answered those questions ad infinitum. It gets tired very quickly. Often, if the consumer doesn't get the answer they want, they become belligerant and abusive. Most of us are getting sick of it, but the board has great value to the consumer who is willing to do the reasearch involved so we're trying to keep it open for them.

So leave. No one will miss you. You are the situation. This is a website for eyecare professionals, not consumers.

Wow, still just one post. It is flattering you registered on Optiboard just to have a pop at little old me. I look forward hearing what a dispensing optician from the UK has to say about the industry. Where did you qualify? I probably know some of your classmates and teachers.
